HINTON COMMUNITY SCHOOL BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEETING

REGULAR MEETING - MONDAY, AUGUST 20, 2001

7:00 A.M. - BOARD ROOM

The Board of Directors of the Hinton Community School District met in regular session, Monday, August 20, 2001 in the board room. Members Kramer, Held, Rodgers, Dittmer and Sohl responded "aye" to the roll call. Superintendent Steen, Principal Martens, Jo Jurgensmeier, Dave Attrill, Krista Nelson and Janet Held were also present.

Janet Held addressed the board requesting permission for the football cheerleaders to do a fundraiser at the football games.

It was moved by Sohl to approve the amended agenda. Second was by Dittmer and the motion carried unanimously.

It was moved by Dittmer to approve the minutes of the July 9, 2001 Special Board Meeting and the July 16, 2001 Regular Board Meeting. Second was by Held and the motion carried unanimously.

A motion was made by Held to approve the list of bills, including late claims, in the amount of $54,328.54, for payment. Second was by Sohl and the motion carried unanimously.

A motion was made by Dittmer to approve the monthly Activity, Lunch, General, and special revenue financial reports. Second was by Kramer and the motion carried unanimously.

It was moved by Dittmer to approve the resignation of Steve Kovarna, as bus driver, effective immediately. Second was by Held and the motion carried unanimously.

It was moved by Dittmer to approve the resignation of Bette Fischer, as cook, effective immediately. Second was by Kramer and the motion carried unanimously.

It was moved by Sohl to approve a contract for Jennifer Holtgrew, as High School English Instructor for the 2001-2002 school year. Second was by Dittmer and the motion carried unanimously

It was moved by Dittmer to approve a contract for a full-time position as cook for Robin Charbonneau, for the 2001-2002 school year. Second was by Held and the motion carried unanimously.

It was moved by Dittmer to approve a contract for Janet Held, as football cheerleading sponsor. Second was by Kramer and the motion carried unanimously.

It was moved by Held to approve a contract for Kelly Freed, for part-time kitchen help. Second was by Dittmer and the motion carried unanimously.

Adding an FCCLA sponsor position to the supplemental pay scale was discussed.

A wrestling cheerleader fundraiser was discussed. This money would be used for the purchasing of new cheerleader uniforms.

A motion was made by Kramer to go into closed session as outlined in Iowa Code 21.5 (l)(j) to discuss the purchase of real estate where premature disclosure could reasonably be expected to increase the price of property being considered for purchase. Second was by Dittmer and the roll call vote was as follows:

Kramer - aye Held - aye

Rodgers - aye Sohl - aye

Dittmer - aye

The closed session began at 7:20 A.M.

A motion was made by Kramer to come out of closed session and second was by Dittmer. The closed session ended at 7:35 A.M.

It was moved by Dittmer to adjourn the meeting. Second was by Held and the motion carried unanimously. The meeting adjourned at 7:37 A.M. and is recorded on Tape #01-24.

The next regular meeting of the Board of Directors of the Hinton Community School District will be September 17, 2001, at 7:00 P.M.
