SCHOOL BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEETING
REGULAR MEETING -
MONDAY, JANUARY 14, 2002

The Board of
Directors of the Hinton Community School District met in regular session,
Monday, January 14,
2002, in the board room. Members Held,
Rodgers, Sohl and Dittmer responded "aye" to the roll call. Superintendent Steen, Principal Martens, Jo
Jurgensmeier, Amy Brighton, Dan Hudek, Mary Daniels, and Diane Culver were also
present.
It was moved by Sohl
to approve the amended agenda. Second
was by Dittmer and the motion carried unanimously.
It was moved by
Dittmer to approve the minutes of the December 17, 2001 board meeting. Second was by Sohl and the motion carried
unanimously.
A motion was made by
Held to approve the list of bills, in the amount of $32,205.64, for
payment. Second was by Dittmer and the
motion carried unanimously.
It was moved by Sohl
to approve the monthly Activity, Lunch, General and Special Revenue Financial
Reports. Second was by Held and the
motion carried unanimously.
Amy Brighton
addressed the board with a proposal for a fundraiser for her DECA Club. This would involve selling advertisements
for a community/school calendar.
Dan Hudek and Mary
Daniels presented the board with an updated student assistance program.
It was moved by
Dittmer to approve the resignation of Krista Nelson, as J.V. Volleyball coach,
with the stipulation a suitable replacement is found. Second was by Held and the motion carried unanimously.
It was moved by
Dittmer to approve a resolution calling for a special election on the question
of levying a voter approved physical plant and equipment property tax and
income surtax as outlined within the written resolution. Second was by Sohl and the roll call vote
was as follows:

Motion carried.
It was moved by Sohl
to approve the second reading and adoption of Board Policy #503.4R1 (GOOD
CONDUCT POLICY). Second was by Dittmer
and the motion carried unanimously.
There was a
discussion for allowing open enrollment parents to serve on the citizens
committee. It was moved by Held to
approve the current list of members.
Second was by Dittmer and the roll call vote was as follows:

Motion carried.
It was moved by
Dittmer to approve the DECA fundraiser, as presented by Amy Brighton. Second was by Held and the motion carried
unanimously.
It was moved by Sohl
to approve the updated student assistance program, as presented by Mr. Hudek
and Mrs. Daniels. Second was by
Dittmer and the motion carried unanimously.
The citizens
committee meeting, beginning at 7:00 P.M. in the library, was discussed.
It was moved by
Dittmer that the meeting be adjourned.
Second was by Sohl and the motion carried unanimously. The meeting adjourned at 7:45 P.M. and is
recorded on Tape #02-1.

meeting of the Board of Directors or the Hinton Community School District will
be February 11, 2002 at 6:00 P.M.
