The Board of
Directors of the Hinton Community School District met in regular session,
Monday, February 10, 2003 in the board room.
Members Rodgers, Hoefling and Dittmer responded "aye" to the
roll call. Principals' Martens and
Stuerman, Jo Jurgensmeier, Diane Joanning and Jane Krehbiel were also present.
It was moved by
Dittmer to approve the amended agenda.
Second was by Hoefling and the motion carried unanimously.
A motion was made by
Dittmer to approve the minutes of the January 13, 2003 board meeting and
January 27th and 29th work sessions. Second was by Hoefling and the motion
carried unanimously.
A motion was made by
Dittmer to approve the list of bills, in the amount of $177,197.36, for
payment. Second was by Hoefling and the
motion carried unanimously,
It was moved by
Dittmer to approve the monthly Activity, Lunch, General and Special Revenue
financial reports. Second was by
Hoefling and the motion carried unanimously.
Diane Joanning
presented the board with handouts and gave an overview of the Discovergarten
program.
A motion was made by
Dittmer to approve the recommended curriculum revisions in Language Arts for
the 2003-2004 school year. Second was
by Hoefling and the motion carried unanimously. Principal Martens, Jane Krehbiel (Curriculum Coordinator) and the
Language Arts department have been working on this update.
A motion was made by
Dittmer to approve the transfer of Laurie Law from second grade teacher to
Title One/Reading Recovery teacher, as requested by Mrs. Law and recommended by
Principal Stuerman for the 2003-2004 school year. Second was by Hoefling and the motion carried unanimously.
A motion was made by
Dittmer to approve the transfer of Deb Donaldson from Talented and Gifted (TAG)
teacher to second grade teacher, as requested by Mrs. Donaldson and recommended
by Principal Stuerman for the 2003-2004 school year
It was moved by
Dittmer to approve the second reading of Board Policy Code #405.10 (Licensed
Employee - Designated Teacher Shortage Areas).
Second was by Hoefling and the motion carried unanimously.
It was moved by
Dittmer to approve the second reading of Board Policy Code #405.R1 (Licensed
Employee - Designated Teacher Shortage Areas Regulations/Incentives). Second was by Hoefling and the motion
carried unanimously.
It was moved by
Dittmer to approve the second reading of Board Policy Code #405.10E1 (Licensed
Employee - Designated Teacher Shortage Areas Exhibit). Second was by Hoefling and the motion
carried unanimously.
A motion was made by
Dittmer to approve the purchasing of a new bus from School Bus Sales of
Waterloo, Iowa. They submitted the low
bid of $50,655. Second was by Hoefling
and the motion carried unanimously.
A motion was made by
Dittmer to approve the lump sum low Base Bid by Brown Construction of $131,247,
for our code compliance corrections project (fire marshal citations). Our architects (Neumann Monson Wictor) recommended
this approval. Second was by Hoefling
and the motion carried unanimously.
It was moved by
Dittmer to approve an application to the School Budget Review Committee for
modified allowable growth. Second was
by Hoefling and the motion carried unanimously.
The make up day of Thursday, April 17th
was discussed.
It was moved by
Hoefling that the meeting be adjourned.
Second was by Dittmer and the motion carried unanimously. The meeting adjourned at 7:35 P.M. and is
recorded on Tape #03-2.

be March 17, 2003, at 7:00 P.M.
