Board Goals:
1. Student Achievement Goals
Desired levels of performance for reading and math using baseline data collected from ITBS/ITEDs Achievement Levels Report will be: 85% of students at each reported level will reach at least intermediate performance.
Using ITBS/ITEDs Achievement Level Reports, the annual improvement goal for Reading will be: reduce the number of students in the low performance level by 1/2 percent annually for ten years.
Using ITBS/ITEDs Achievement Level Reports, the annual improvement goal for Math will be: increase the number of students within the intermediate performance to the skilled level rather than moderate level by 1/2 percent annually for ten years.
2. Better utilization of current staff - timeline: by May 2000
A) Staff development
• Board presentations about current programs
• Determine staff development needs
• Review state standards & mandates
B) Teachers setting examples for students - timeline: ongoing
• Identify, teach, and model acceptable behaviors
• Review sponsor role for all co-curricular activities
C) Board inservice - timeline: by May 2000
• Board orientation session
• Work sessions/retreats as needed
3. Develop a K-12 School Responsibility Plan - timeline: by May 2000
A) School Pride/Attitude
• Review other successful programs
• Have students present at board meetings "share successes"
4. Improve Communication with Board Members & Community - timeline: going
A) Communication with Board members
• Management team (board and administrators) practice two-way communication
• Continue weekly board update letters
B) Communication with Community - timeline: May 2000
• Increase communications with the community
• Appoint an Advisory Committee to assist in developing a Comprehensive School Improvement Plan
5. Assess community use of the buildings/computer lab - timeline: ongoing
A) Review current use of the facilities
B) Review policies on community use of facilities
C) Develop policy on community use
