Prerequisite: Member of JH/SH Chorus (One Year) and/or Audition

COURSE DESCRIPTION:
Chorus is the choral performance group for the high school. The students are taught a wide variety of music with emphasis centering on correct notes and rhythms, tonal production, vowel formations, diction, posture, and concert etiquette. Students participate in four concerts yearly and also state large group contest. Participation in extracurricular activities such as show choir, small group contest, the musical, and honor choir is encouraged but not required. One voice lesson (group or individual) per quarter is required for all members.
STUDENTS ARE EXPECTED TO:
· Be attentive in class.
· Sing to the best of their ability.
· Mark items in their music as directed by the teacher.
· Participate in the required concerts and state contests.
EVALUATION:
Student grades are determined by a classroom participation rubric. Each student is given a weekly grade. A grade is also given for each performance.

COURSE DESCRIPTION:
High school band offers training in most wind and percussion instruments. Emphasis is concentrated on the concert band with individual instruction available to all students. The band is very active in community, school, and state sponsored events by attending state solos, small group contest, state large group contest, pep band for home sporting events, and Memorial Day activities for the American Legion.
WHAT STUDENTS ARE EXPECTED TO DO:
Students are expected to:
· Be committed to the group and attend all rehearsals and performances.
· Provide their own instruments, reeds, oil and drum sticks.
· Pay all participation and instrument rental fees.
· Be cooperative and attentive in class.
· Work individually to perform at their musical best.
