District 12 Central Office Administrator of the Year AwardBy District 12 School Administrators of Iowa District 12 of the School Administrators of Iowa (SAI) has named Jane Krehbiel, Curriculum Director in the Hinton Community School District, as the Central Office Administrator of the Year. Jane was nominated and selected for this honor by her peers. Jane will now compete for the State Central Office Administrator of the Year Award. A committee of colleagues will narrow the nominees from the state to three finalists. A committee of her peers will interview the finalists at the State SAI Office and a recipient will be selected as the State Central Office Administrator of the year and will be honored at the SAI’s awards banquet in August 2007. In the report, How Leadership Influences Student Learning, research findings from the Universities of Minnesota and Toronto identify that “Leadership not only matters: it is second only to teaching among school-related factors in its impact on student learning.” The study further concludes that leaders impact student learning: “By charting a clear course everyone understands, establishing high expectations, using data to track student achievement, developing people, and ensuring that the entire range of conditions in districts and schools fully supports teaching and learning.” Hinton Superintendent Al Steen commented that “Jane Krehbiel is an outstanding administrator and curriculum director. She truly cares about student achievement and each student as an individual. Through her leadership our staff continues to enhance their teaching skills, our students achievement continues to improve, and our school district is recognized as offering quality education with a personal touch to each and every student.” SAI, a statewide organization founded in 1987, represents more than 2,000 Iowa educational administrators. SAI’s mission is to support, encourage, and develop Iowa’s educational leaders and learners. |
