Hinton Round Up

By Mrs. Laurie Bird

Hinton Kindergarten and Discovergarten round up is scheduled for Wednesday, April 12 and we are very excited to meet our upcoming students. Two sessions will be offered with the morning session taking place from 9:00-11:00 AM and the afternoon gathering will occur from 1:00-3:00 PM. We are asking all parents to register their child by calling the school with this initial information: your child’s full name, making sure that it is spelled correctly, address, phone number, and birth date. Early registration is essential to reserve the session you prefer. Discovergarten is Hinton Community School’s transitional kindergarten program and provides an additional year of maturity growth, if your child developmentally needs it. The early childhood staff will be notifying the parents if this wonderful program would benefit your child. If your child is 5 years of age on or before September 15, 2006, please call the Hinton Elementary office at 947-4428.

Text Box: All-Iowa Drill Team
By Mrs. Janell Heimgartner
Kinsey Bak, a sophomore, has been selected to perform with the All-Iowa Drill Team. She went to South East Polk in September to audition with over 500 girls from 95 different schools to get this opportunity. She will be one of 224 girls that will perform half time of the Girls State Basketball Championship game on March 11. You will be able to find Kinsey in the kick line. The girls are going to perform with country music group Sawyer Brown. This is an outstanding opportunity and we are very proud to have Hinton represented in the All-Iowa Drill Team!

High School

Planning Meeting

By Ms. Sue Martens

A high school planning meeting will be held for eighth grade students and their parents on Tuesday, March 6 at 7:00 PM in the library. The purpose of the meeting is to help students with a four-year plan for high school courses that prepares them for post secondary education and training. High school graduation requirements, GPA, class rank, ACT testing, and college planning will be discussed. High School courses and scheduling will be explained. Students attending the planning meeting will have priority in signing up for elective classes.
