Iowa Test Scores Analyzed

On January 24, the entire staff spent an exhausting day reviewing data from the Iowa Test of Basic Skills (ITBS) and Iowa Test of Educational Development (ITED). During the day, staff analyzed test scores from district proficiency rate trends, Grade Equivalency trends, student performance in specific areas of the curriculum, and individual student areas of strength and areas of concern. Scores from the Iowa Tests are reported to the State Department in grade 4, 8, and 11 in the areas of reading and math. Science scores are reported to the state in grades 8 and 11.

Federal reporting, to meet No Child Left Behind requirements in the areas of reading and math, includes students in grade 3-8 and 11. Proficiency rates consist of the percent of students that score above the 40th percentile.

The following chart shows the district proficiency rates for the last 3 years in the areas of reading, math, and science.

Post-Secondary Enrollment

Option

The post-secondary enrollment option is an opportunity for high school juniors and seniors, along with the ninth and tenth grade students who are part of the Talented and Gifted program, to expand their curriculum. Students are able to enroll, attend, and receive college credit at post secondary institutions. The classes must be in course work not provided in our school. The credits the students earn will count toward both high school graduation and the post-secondary institutions course requirements. Tuition costs are paid by the school.

Students and parents interested in this opportunity should visit the guidance office or call 947-4328.
