Annual Notification of Asbestos Containing Materials

In compliance with the US Environmental Protections Agency (EPA) Asbestos Hazard Emergency Response Act (AHERA), in the fall of 1988 our school buildings were inspected for asbestos containing building materials.  The inspection findings and asbestos management plans have been on file in the school administrative office since that time.

The EPA requires us to perform inspections of the asbestos materials every three years. An accredited Inspector/Management Planner from Iowa Environmental Services, Inc. performed the inspection of our district on September 1, 2004, and issued a report regarding the results.

All asbestos containing materials in our school are in good condition, and we will continue to manage them in place as recommended by the accredited Management Planner.

Iowa Environmental Services, Inc. has been contracted to provide environmental services which include maintaining compliance with federal regulations regarding asbestos and other regulated environmental concerns.

The results of the inspection, as well as the last six month surveillance, are on file in the Management Plan in the school’s administrative office. All are welcome to view these anytime during normal school hours (M-F 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM). Our asbestos Program Manager, David Tomlinson, is available at 712-947-4329 to answer any questions concerning asbestos in our building; likewise, Rich Sayer at Iowa Environmental Services, Inc. is available to answer questions at www.iesiowa.com.

We are intent upon complying and exceeding federal, state and local regulations. We will take whatever steps needed to ensure our students and employees have a safe and healthy environment in which to learn and work.
