New Science Class Offering

The beginning of the 2007-08 school year initiated the start of a new science class being offered to Hinton high school students. Anatomy is now offered on a semester basis to junior and senior students.

Students enrolled in this one semester class, will be learning about one of the most fascinating subjects possible, their own bodies. Such a study is not only highly personal, but timely as well. The current information

blizzard brings news of some medical advances almost daily, If you are to appreciate emerging discoveries in genetic engineering, to understand new techniques for detecting and treating disease and to make use of published facts on how to stay healthy, it is important to learn about the workings of your body. For those preparing for a career in the health sciences, the study of anatomy and physiology has

added rewards because it provides the foundation needed to support clinical experiences.

The first semester class of anatomy has thirteen students enrolled. The class will be offered again second semester.

Learning Never Ends

As many of our students and teachers were off enjoying their summer vacation, there wasa group of students and teachers continuing to read, write, and calculate math. For the past four years, Hinton Community School has offered a summer enrichment program for students in grades 1st through 6th. The program is offered 3 weeks in June and 3 weeks in July on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday mornings. Students spent time each day reading, writing, and participating in fun activities to maintain their skills. Math time was spent working on basic facts and counting money by using problem solving. Lots of fun was had by not only the students but by the teachers. Hinton Community School offers this program free of charge for all the students.

Tri-State College Fair and College Night

Two excellent opportunities will be available for Hinton High School students and parents on October 7th and 8th. The Tri-State College Fair will be held on October 7 from one to three-thirty at Marina Inn in South Sioux City, Nebraska. The fair will be informal and students and parents can drop in at anytime over the course of the afternoon. In addition, financial aid sessions are provided on the hour and

half-hour for both students and parents.

Le Mars Community High school will provide a similar opportunity for students on October 8. The college night will be from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the gym of Le Mars Community School, the same drop-in format will be used.

Representatives of over a hundred

colleges, technical schools, specialty schools and the military will be in attendance at both sites. It is “a don’t miss” opportunity for parents and students to garner information on many different educational opportunities.
