The Board of
Directors of the Hinton Community School met in regular session, Monday, June
10, 2002 in the board room. Members
Held, Rodgers, Sohl and Dittmer responded "aye" to the roll
call. Superintendent Steen, Principals
Martens and Stuerman, and Jo Jurgensmeier were also present.
Director Kramer
entered the meeting at 6:55 p.m.
A motion was made by
Dittmer to approve the agenda as published.
Second was by Sohl and the motion carried unanimously,
It was moved by Sohl
to approve the minutes of the May 20, 2002 board meeting and the May 29, 2002
worksession. Second was by Dittmer and
the motion carried unanimously.
It was moved by Held
to approve the list of bills, in the amount of $83,440.93, for payment. Second was by Dittmer and the motion carried
unanimously.
A motion was made by
Dittmer to approve the monthly Activity, Lunch, General, and special revenue
financial reports. Second was by Sohl
and the motion carried unanimously.
A thank you note from
Katie Galvin, a 3rd grade teacher, was passed around. Mrs. Galvin thanked the board for the
breakfast served during Teacher Appreciation Week.
It was moved by Held
to approve a contract modification for the 7-12 guidance counselor from two
extended days to five. Second was by
Dittmer and the motion carried unanimously.
A motion was made by
Sohl to approve a half-time elementary music position for Barbara Huygens, as
recommended by Principal Stuerman.
Second was by Dittmer and the motion carried unanimously.
A motion was made by
Held to continue to operate our current nutrition program and to approve the
fees as follows for the 2002-2003 school year:
Breakfast - $1.10
K-6 lunch - $1.60
7-12 lunch - $1.65
Adult - $2.25
Second was by Dittmer
and the motion carried unanimously.
It was moved by
Dittmer to approve a senior open campus, as recommended by the task committee
composed of teachers, students and parents, for the 2002-2003 school year. Second was by Sohl and the motion carried
unanimously.
It was moved by
Dittmer to approve the 7-12 Student Handbook.
Second was by Kramer and the motion carried unanimously.
It was moved by Sohl
to approve the Teacher Handbook. Second
was by Dittmer and the motion carried unanimously.
Policy #502.7R1
(Smoking - Drinking - Drugs Regulations) was discussed.
It was moved by
Kramer that the meeting be adjourned.
Second was by Dittmer and the motion carried unanimously. The meeting adjourned at 7:16 A.M. and is
recorded on Tape #02-7A.
The next regular
meeting of the Board of Directors of the Hinton Community School will be July
15, 2002 at 6:45 A.M.
