graduate of USD, majoring in Biology and Chemistry and with a masterís degree in Physics. She replaces Mr. Rich Kallsen who left the district to pursue other employment opportunities. Mrs. Ruden has been teaching science at MMC for the past several years. She is married and has two school-aged children.

Mr. Gregg Gesche will be teaching Industrial Technology (CAD, General/Adv. Woods, Metals, and Electricity). Mr. Gesche is a graduate of† West Mar College with a BS in Industrial Arts Education and a graduate of Wayne State with an MS in Industrial Technology Education. He replaces Mr. Mike Moeller who left the district to pursue other opportunities. Mr. Gesche is married with grown children.

Ryan Gillaspie will be our Success Center Tutor and online classes mentor. He replaces Amy Held, who took a teaching job at West High in Sioux City. Mr. Gillaspie is a coach for the Hinton Community School District.

We have several changes in the high school staff this year.

Mr. Ben Hertenstein will be assuming the duties of Technology Director and MS/HS Athletic Director. He will continue to teach Applied Math and coach.

Mrs. Julie Clausen will be assuming the duties of 7-12 Guidance Counselor. She will be replacing Mr. Dan Hudek who retired at the end of the 2008 school year.

Mr. Chad Sussex will be teaching Technology classes for students in grades 8-12. Mr. Sussex is a graduate of Morningside College, majoring in General Business Education. He is a Master Certified Internet Webmaster Designer. He will replace Mr. Ben Hertenstein, who is assuming other duties. Mr. Sussex is married and has two children.

Mr. Casey Crawford will be teaching high school Math (Functional Algebra, Algebra I and Geometry). Mr. Crawford is a graduate of USD, majoring in Math and PE. He replaces Mr. Wayne Sadler, who retired at the end of the 2007-2008 school year. Mr. Crawford has been teaching math in the Red Oak Community School District. He will also be coaching wrestling this year.

Miss Melissa Steffen will be teaching high school English (English 9, Applied English, 10th grade Comp, Media Literacy, Modern Lit. and Yearbook). Miss Steffen is a 2008 graduate of Wayne State College, majoring in English.† Miss Steffen lives in Kingsley and is planning to be married in September.
