HPA Carnival

Hinton Parents Association will hold the annual school carnival on Friday, April 9h, from 6:00 to 8:00 in the school gym.  Plan to come and eat dinner as pizza and hotdogs will be available to purchase.  A variety of games and prizes will entertain all ages along with door prizes for all.  All proceeds from the carnival fundraiser will allow the HPA to purchase items for the students and teachers of Hinton.  Tickets will be on sale April 7th and 8th before school five for a dollar and at the available at the carnival for four for a dollar.

Tdap Immunization at Hinton School

Floyd Valley Hospital Community Health has received funding to provide Tdap (Tetanus, Diphtheria and Pertussis) vaccine to your child at no cost.  The new recommendation is that all children receive a dose of Tdap at 11-12 years of age.  Iowa has been seeing Pertussis recently, therefore protecting children is important.

Floyd Valley will be immunizing children that need to be caught up on this immunization.  They will immunize grades 9-12th on May 7th and will be back in the fall to immunize grades 7th-9th.  The Tdap information sheet is on the school website.

Please see the school website for the consent form which will be due on April 8th.  Vaccine will be ordered based on consent forms returned.

Track Meet Volunteers Needed

After the first of the year, organization for the coming track season begins. This will be the 17th season of hosting track meets at the Held Sports Complex. Once again, we will be hosting a seventeen-team girl’s invitational on Friday, April 16th, and another fourteen team boys meet on Thursday, April 22nd. Our junior high teams will also be hosting their co-ed invitational on Thursday, May 13th. This year will also be host to the War Eagle Conference High School meet on Tuesday, May 4th. As you can see, we will again be very busy this spring.

Volunteers make our track meets go. Each year between 40-50 people give of their time and their talents to make Hinton a quality place to run. If you can help, whether you are a veteran or a first-timer, we’d love to have you. There are jobs for everyone, and you don’t need to know one thing about track.  This is a fun event, and a great way to meet people. If this is something you’d like to pursue, don’t hesitate to call Ben Hertenstein, Athletic Director, at 712-947-4328 (school) or 712-947-4195 (home) and volunteer for the high school or junior high meets. Ben will be glad to set you up in a job suitable for you. The first meet is April 17th, so don’t delay. Plans are being made as you read this. The two high school invitational meets start at 5:00 pm and the junior high meet starts at 4:00 pm. The War Eagle Conference meet will start at 4:30 pm. We hope you can get involved!
