SNOWCAP

It would be a rare winter when school isn’t postponed, cancelled or let out early.  You can get up-to-the-minute alerts by registering with and then logging on to Snowcap.com.  Register before bad weather hits; call 712-202-1574 or 866-766-0791 or go to support@snowcaponline.com.   If you register and request direct alerts, you’ll receive alerts to you via e-mail or your cell phone.

Making the call to change the school day due to weather is invariably controversial.  Hinton does not build snow days into its calendar, so days cancelled must be made up outside the calendar such as by extending the school year.  Late ins or early outs are for safety reasons to allow not only our buses but students and parents more time to get to their destination safely using extra caution.

Please understand that, even if school is being held, if you don’t believe your child should be on the roads, you may exercise your own discretion and allow them to stay home.  We will work with you to see that school work can be made up.  Please notify one of our secretaries of your decision if possible, however.

Thank you.
