2014 Northwest Iowa Honor Band
Approximately 160 high school musicians from 40 area high schools combined their talents for the 60th annual Northwest Iowa Honor Band Festival Saturday, January 11 2014 at the newly remodeled Eppley Auditorium on the Morningside College Campus. Membership for the band was chosen through auditions that were held on November 3 in Storm Lake. The auditions are quite intense and require a high level of musical ability.

Hinton High School was proudly represented by Rachel Kehrberg playing Bb Clarinet.

The festival featured two bands that rehearsed throughout the day Saturday then performing a concert that evening at 7:00. Conducting this year’s festival bands were David Shaffer and Stephen Melillo. Both conductors are nationally acclaimed composers of music for high school bands and are high demand as high school clinicians and festival conductors.
