Five years ago when I started teaching I started exploring learning opportunities for our students. I found STEM Scale-up grants presented by the Governor’s STEM Council, and I found curriculum choices.
I started Team #6638 with the FIRST Tech Challenge three years ago. This year I added a seconded team, #8904 for junior high students. The FTC is a robotics challenge involving building robots, the engineering process, team building, gracious professionalism, and problem-solving.

Capture the Moment with FCCLA
The Hinton FCCLA chapter along with 600 members from FCCLA chapters across the state attended the Iowa FCCLA State Leadership Conference on March 29th through March 31st.
State Leadership Conference is an opportunity for Iowa FCCLA members to celebrate the past year of hard work on various projects as well as develop their leadership skills with members from around the state. The 2014-2015 year long theme was “Capture the Moment”. Outstanding leadership was demonstrated through participation in STAR Events, National Programs, and Peer Education by students grades 7-12.
