Hinton FFA was one of five FFA chapters representing the Iowa Corn Growers Association at the Capitol Building in Des Moines yesterday. We learned about current legislation affecting Iowa Farmers and had an opportunity to sit in the Senate gallery and hear the Senators debate on a bill regarding glyphosate. We spent some time with Iowa's Deputy Secretary of Ag, Grant Menke. He spoke to us about his career and addressed issues relating to glyphosate, avian influenza, E85 fuel, and Iowa agriculture's impact on the United States and the world.
Last night, we had the opportunity to celebrate the top 5% of our Junior and Senior class at the War Eagle Conference Academic Banquet. Proud of our Blackhawk Scholars!

Our 4th-6th grade Student Council members are working on a special project for the Fire Department and had the opportunity to see the equipment firsthand. After advancing from the fall, Allison Hoefling battled 6 other champions from across the state. She was selected by local celebrities to be overall 2025 FCCLA Grilled Cheese Champion. She will be featured on KCRG Channel 9 during their live morning show tomorrow!

Today, our BLC students had the opportunity to tour the Ronald McDonald House, seeing firsthand the impact of this incredible organization. 💙🏠
Throughout February, they worked with PK-6 students to decorate lunch bags with colorful designs and uplifting messages. Today, they had the chance to deliver those bags, spreading kindness and joy to families in need. #WatchUsLead
We are very excited to announce we will have four Hinton FFA members who will be receiving their Iowa FFA Degrees at State FFA Convention in April! The Iowa FFA Degree is the highest honor the State FFA Association can bestow upon one of its members. Congratulations all!

Today, nine Hinton FFA members were in attendance at the She Grows Women in Agriculture Conference. The conference was held at Morningside University in collaboration with Iowa State University Extension. The students listened to keynote speakers presenting topics on inspiring women in agriculture, building rural communities, and rural health and wellness. Additionally, they heard from a panel of female agriculture entrepreneurs and had an opportunity to network. Lastly, the students were able to tour Morningside's greenhouse to see how the lettuce and tilapia are grown for the campus cafeteria.
